The Most Important Things to Book First for Your Wedding in Greece

So, you’ve said “Yes!” and now you’re dreaming of warm sunsets, turquoise waters, whitewashed villages, and a once-in-a-lifetime wedding in Greece. First of all — Congratulations! You’re about to start an incredible adventure, and trust me, planning a destination wedding here can be so much easier (and more fun!) than you think.

As a wedding photographer in Greece, I’ve helped couples from all over the world create beautiful, effortless celebrations — and today I’m sharing the very first things you should book to get the ball rolling.

Pick Your Venue (Hello, View Goals!)

The venue sets the tone for your entire day. Want a cliffside ceremony in Santorini? A private villa in Paros? A barefoot beach wedding in Rhodes? There’s a perfect spot for every couple — but the best venues get scooped up early, especially in high season (May–September).

✨ Don’t worry — once you book your venue, everything else starts falling into place.

Book Your Photographer

Photos are one of the only things that last forever after the big day — so it’s super important to choose someone whose style and vibe feel right. Most destination photographers in Greece (like me!) book weddings 10–24 months in advance, especially for summer dates.

The good news? Once you have your photographer, you’ve got a guide, a timeline expert, and a calm voice on the day. We’re with you from morning mimosas to dance floor moments.

Hire a Wedding Planner

You don’t have to hire a planner — but if you want someone who speaks the language, knows the vendors, and can handle logistics (like paperwork, timelines, and last-minute surprises), it’s absolutely worth it.

Bonus: They make everything feel smooth and joyful — so you can just show up and celebrate.

Secure Guest Accommodation Early

Greece is a summer hotspot — and hotels, villas, and Airbnbs fill up fast. If you're getting married during peak months, book your rooms early, and maybe reserve a block for your guests too. Some venues even offer amazing “wedding weekend” experiences that include stays.

Check the Paperwork (Or Skip It!)

Yes, Greece has a bit of bureaucracy — but it’s manageable! If you’re having a legal wedding here, make sure you check which documents you need (usually birth certificates, marital status papers, etc.).

Not into the paperwork? No problem! Many couples do the legal part at home and have a symbolic ceremony in Greece — which means more freedom and way less stress.

Book Hair, Makeup & Styling (aka Your Glam Team)

Whether you’re going for island goddess vibes or sleek city chic, you’ll want the right glam team. The best stylists book out early, especially on popular islands. Ask your planner or photographer (👋) for trusted recommendations!

Plan Transport & Fun for Your Guests

Help your guests get from point A to “I Do” with ease. Some couples arrange group transport or welcome bags with ferry tickets, maps, and local goodies. Others plan a pre-wedding dinner or post-wedding beach day — trust me, these extra touches create unforgettable memories.

Planning a wedding in Greece doesn’t have to be complicated. With the right people by your side, it becomes an adventure full of joy, color, light, and unforgettable moments.

If you're ready to start planning — or just want to talk ideas — I'd love to hear your story and help bring your vision to life through beautiful, relaxed photography.

Somewhere between the deep blue sea, olive trees, and golden sunsets, your dream wedding is waiting. And if you’re here, it means you’re already halfway there.

I’d love to hear your story and help you celebrate it — the Greek way: relaxed, full of love, and always with good light. ☀️🇬🇷

Let’s chat and make it real!
